Standards

meteoblue uses global conventions for data capture and display. The most important standards are listed below.

  • Symbols and pictograms
    • List of symbols used for weather and other attributes.
  • Position
    • Coordinates and altitude for selection of locations.
  • Hours and date
    • Time, period, intervals in local and UTC time of data presentation.
  • Languages
    • List of languages used.
  • Countries
    • Information about the countries covered, their identification and their location attributes.

Standards are essential for presenting accurate weather information: time, location and parameter description are important to ensure that the weather information is properly presented and understandable.

In other words: "sunny with some showers - somewhere in Europe" is not really useful information ;-)
