Basel

Basel is located in the north west of Switzerland in the canton Basel Stadt where the Swiss, German and French borders meet. The city is Switzerland’s third populous city with about 180,000 inhabitants and the city center is located at an elevation of 261 m. The river Rhine crosses the city center of Basel.

Zürich

The city of Zurich is located in the Swiss Plateau at the northern end of Lake Zurich. With approximately 410,000 inhabitants, Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and the Limmat and Sihl flow through the urban area. Zurich is influenced by winds from the west, which often bring precipitation, and so-called Bise, local wind systems that bring cold and dry air from east to northeast.

Tallinn

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia. With about 450,000 inhabitants, Tallinn is by far the largest city in the country. It is located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, which is part of the Baltic Sea. Estonia is characterised by a humid continental climate, where regions near the coastline (like Tallinn) are significantly impacted by the sea. Since 1997, Tallinn's Old Town and the surrounding parks are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is home to many parks and green areas and was chosen as the European Green Capital of 2023.
