Effect of radiation

Effect of solar radiation on the surface

Solar radiation is absorbed by the surface of the Earth. The stronger the radiation, the more the surface temperature rises. Thereby, the lower air layers of the atmosphere are heated.

Look at the meteogrammes, and note how the temperature changes from the sea (left) to the land (right):

  • Day and night;
  • without and with clouds;
  • in the summer and in the winter.
