FTP & E-mail delivery

For specific customer needs, meteoblue also offers the weather data by FTP (File Transfer Protocol) data delivery. As FTP is an old protocol with some weaknesses and problems, we generally recommend using our standardised API. However, FTP deployment may be required for certain use cases. Therefore, all meteoblue data packages are available via FTP (see below) as well.

Data packages (raw data)

meteoblue offers various weather variables that are grouped into data packages. There are different data packages for specific use cases:

  • Current - Current weather
  • Basic - General purpose, contains the most common variables (e.g. temperature, precipitation, wind speed, relative humidity)
  • Agro - Designed for agriculture (e.g. evapotranspiration, soil temperature and soil moisture)
  • Wind - For special wind purpose (e.g. gust wind, air density and 80m values)
  • Clouds - Detailed cloud layer information
  • Sea - Marine weather forecast (e.g. wave heights, directions and frequencies)
  • Solar - Solar radiation variables
  • PVPro - For photovoltaic production
  • Air - Atmosphere simulations (e.g. CAPE, Lifted Index)
  • Airquality - Air quality variables (e.g. ozone concentration, dust concentration)
  • Multimodel - Raw forecast data of multiple weather models
  • Ensemble - Individual members of the GFS ensemble forecast
  • Trend - 14 day ensemble forecast (standard variables)
  • Trendpro - 14 day ensemble forecast (extended variables)
  • Seasonal forecast - Regional anomalies for the next 6 months
  • Modelclimate - Climate simulation data of last 30 years

For further information, please refer to the technical documentation.

For specific customer needs, meteoblue also offers to deliver the weather data by E-Mail - one-time, occasionally or regularly.

One-time / occasional raw historical data delivery

If you need raw historical weather data one-time or occasionally, we will send the desired data as csv-file through E-Mail.

Raw data

meteoblue offers a complete history data set for any place in the world with hourly data. The weather history simulation data is available since 1940 with a spatial resolution of 30 km. High resolution history data is available since 2008 for nearly any place in the world. For capacity reasons, not all weather variables and atmospheric levels are available.

meteoblue offers raw data for the following weather variables:

  • Temperature and dew point temperature
  • Precipitation
  • Wind direction and wind speed
  • Relative humidity
  • Solar radiation
(GHI, DNI, GNI, GIF, DIR, GTI, Extra terrestrial radiation)
  • Pressure
  • Low, medium and high cloud cover

Other weather variables on demand.

Regular data delivery by E-Mail

If you need regular weather data, and usage of the API is not feasible, we offer to send regular E-Mails, containing the requested weather data.

With this service, we offer to send E-Mails with:

  • any meteoblue weather data API-packages (forecast and history)
  • any images and weather maps that are available through API
  • any combinations, extractions, transformations or aggregations of the aformentioned data sources
  • any desired regularity
  • various selectable data attachement formats (eg .csv, .xlsx, .pdf)

Reports

On specific customer request, meteoblue conducts verifications, validations, comparisons and other sorts of weather data analysis. The resulting reports are sent to the customer by E-Mail.
