meteoblue® - the registered trademark

meteoblue® is a trademark registered in the classes of instruments, advertising, telecommunications and services, in all major countries of the world (including the USA, Canada, Europe, Brazil, Japan, China, and many others). Usage of homonymes, tradenames, domain names and other commercial designations similar to meteoblue in those countries is subject to permission by meteoblue AG, Basel.

meteoblue® - company name

  • The name meteoblue is always written in latin letters, without accents and completely lower case, in particular the first letter "m".
    • right: meteoblue
    • wrong (e.g.): météoblue, метеоблие, Meteoblue, MeteoBlue, meteo-blue, .
  • The name meteoblue always stands as single word, without adding any letters before or after it, including apostrophs. So, for example, never use it on the genitive in languages that require to add an "s" or "'s". For example, German compound words containing the name meteoblue always use the space as delimiter.
    • right: meteoblue, weather maps of meteoblue, meteoblue weather maps, meteoblue Wetterkarten.
    • wrong: meteoblue's weather maps, meteoblue-Wetterkarten.
  • The only aggregation allowed is the combination the trademark symbols ®, ™ as well as ©.
    • right: meteoblue®, meteoblue™, © meteoblue 2015.
    • wrong: meteoblue-®, meteoblueTM.
  • The minimal typeface to be used with the name meteoblue is 8 point.

Spatial dimensions

The "spatial dimensions" are written in UPPER case letters, and not translated, unless otherwise specified:

In texts, the spatial dimensions are always written as above, standalone, and (if necessary) bold (SPOT), with quotes ("SPOT"). meteoblue may use special symbols for specific trademarked names (point® and SPOT). These are not be used by others. In doubt, please consult meteoblue.

Spellings should NOT be: with (brackets), with hyphen (-), italic (SPOT), with apostroph (SPOT's).

The spatial terms help distinguish clearly what level of weather data precision and what view is presented within each diagram or dataset.

Time dimensions

The "time dimensions" are written in lower case letters, and not translated, unless otherwise specified:

In texts, the time dimensions are always written as above, standalone, and (if necessary) bold (climate), with quotes ("next").

Spellings should NOT be: with (brackets), with hyphen (-), italic (clima), with apostroph (next's).

The time terms help distinguish clearly what time period and temporal aggregation is presented for weather data.

Themes are definitions of products, which are directed towards a certain customer group:

Diagrams and graphic tools

meteoblue uses several unique creations of diagrams and graphic tools, to illustrate weather information in space and time:

Diagram names are always written in the grammar of the language used (small print in English, first letter capitalised as stand-alone). Usually, diagrams are specified in local language. Specialised diagrams, such as the Stueve diagram, are written consistently across all languages.

  • Data packages: same in all languages (see API).
  • Images: same in all languages (see API).
  • Weather maps: Weather maps (EN), Wetterkarten (DE), Cartes météo (FR), Mappe meteo (IT), Mapas meteorológicos (PT), Mapas meteorológicos (ES).
  • Meteogram: Meteogram (EN), Meteogramm (DE), Météogramme (FR), Meteogramma (IT), Meteograma (PT), Meteograma (ES).
  • Pictocast: same in all languages.
  • Multimodel: same in all languages.
  • Multimodel ensemble: same in all languages.

Spellings

For the major languages, we use the following spellings:

  • English: British English
  • Deutsch: Standard-Deutsch mit ß
  • Français: Français "Modern"
  • Português: Portugal
